On Tuesday, March 21st, Christine Henden of Remax and Tracy Powers of Fitness Powers presented a cheque in the amount of $1433.42 to Briar Boyce, Communications Co-ordinator and Penny Rolinski, Executive Director of the Prince Edward County Memorial Foundation in support of our local community hospital. The funds were raised through donations by participants in the 13th annual County Marathon event held on October 2, 2016.

“This is a great community event supported by many volunteers, businesses and the County, so it is wonderful that we can give back to the community by supporting our local hospital” says Christine Henden of Remax who is the Volunteer Co-ordinator for the event. Christine has been on the committee since the beginning and has coordinated hundreds of volunteers over the years to assist with traffic, Remax Water Stations, registration, food, and many other aspects of the event.

Tracy Powers joined the marathon committee two years ago and helped co-ordinate the finish line services ensuring that the runners were well taken care of as they crossed the finish line. This year, Tracy has taken on a new role as the Race Co-ordinator which will involve organizing the numerous logistical details of hosting such a major event. Over the years, she has helped train many runners in preparation of this event. “I encourage everyone to get outdoors and get active, you don’t have to run a full marathon, to get involved”, says Tracy, “a team made up of friends can be a fun way to participate!” She is hopeful this year will be another great success so that we can continue to raise funds to support our local hospital.
