VISUAL IMPAIRMENT

We encourage runners who are blind or visually impaired to register for The County Marathon. Guide runners may participate along with blind and visually impaired runners at no additional cost through a special registration code. WHEELCHAIR PARTICIPANTS

We welcome the participation of race participants requiring the use of a wheelchair.

RACE T-SHIRTS

When you register you will be asked to choose your t-shirt size. Our race shirts are provided by Race Merchandise and are ordered based on the registration information provided by the runners. There will not be an option to switch shirts once the order has been submitted.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Entry fees are non-refundable under all circumstances. Once your entry form has been received, you will not receive a refund for any reason and you will not be able to defer your entry to another year. The County Marathon, in accordance with the Marathon Committee, Board of Directors, County Officials and local Law Enforcement has the authority to cancel any of the events for emergency purposes such as, but not limited to, inclement weather. If such emergency conditions force cancellation, refunds cannot be provided since funds will have been spent in preparation for Race Day.

EVENT CHANGES/CORRECTIONS

Any changes/corrections must be completed on-line by the registrant. Changing to an event that is already sold out is not permitted. TRANSFERS

A transfer is to be used if you can no longer run and you wish to transfer your entry to another person. You are responsible to find someone who wants to take your entry. Transfers can be completed up until September 1, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. To complete a transfer login to Raceroster and click on, “Transfer Request” option from participant dashboard & registration page. The person who is accepting the transfer must press accept and pay the transfer fee. After this has been done, they will be able enter their information as the new participant. Once this is completed and submitted the original participant is deleted from the database and the new participant is entered.

WALKERS

Walkers are welcome in all events. Walkers should note the following time limits apply: 1/2 Marathon – 4 Hours and Marathon – 6 Hours. These times limits will be strictly enforced. All walkers/runner who are on the route beyond these time limits will be asked to move to the shoulder of the road or onto the sidewalk.

SERVICE ANIMAL POLICY

Please note that service animals are the only animals permitted on The County Marathon route.

In order to have a service animal accompany you during your race please follow the procedures below:
1. Please provide documentation by an accredited assistance animal program or the equivalent in advance for approval.
2. The service animal must be on a leash at all times and must wear an identification harness during the event.
3. The owner is responsible for cleaning up after their service animal.
4. Race officials have the right to refuse participation if the service animal poses a safety concern.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

We encourage all out of town participants to book their hotel rooms as early as possible as availability may be limited as you get closer to the Race Weekend.

RACE KIT PICK-UP

Race Kit Pick-Up is located in the Rotary Hall at the Prince Edward Community Centre.
Saturday September 29th: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

To pick up your race kit, bring a copy of your registration confirmation email. It is acceptable to show your email on your mobile device.

You can have a friend or family member pick up your race kit as long as they present your registration confirmation email. T-shirts will be provided based on the size indicated at the time of registration.

RACE DAY

 

Race Start Times

The Full Marathon & Team Challenge start at 8:00am. For anyone planning to be 5 ½ hours or longer there will be an early 7:30am start for the Full Marathon.

The 1/2 Marathon starts at 10:00 am. For anyone planning to be 3 ½ hours or longer there will be an early 9:30 am start for the ½ Marathon.

PARKING

Parking is at the Picton Fairgrounds (located at the Prince Edward Community Centre – 375 Main St., Picton).  Runners will be transported to start lines via buses.  For the safety of runners, no unauthorized people, vehicles or bicycles are permitted on the route. These are official police road closures. You will be towed if you park on the main street outside the fairgrounds.

TIMING CHIPS

Your chip is in your bib, you must wear it at all times. In order to ensure an accurate time, please do not fold or wrinkle the race bib or cover it with a jacket, runner belt, or any other item.
Team Challenge participants will wear a belt which carries your bib. Each team member must pass the belt, with the bib, to the next runner and it must cross both the start and finish line in order to be recorded.

BAGGAGE DROP OFF

Check your bag at the start line for transport to the finish line (bag tag provided at race kit pick-up) Pick up at Crystal Palace.

TEAM CHALLENGE

The first Team Challenge participant may use the bag check at the start line. When you meet your team member at the exchange zone and pass off bib belt, please take their personal belongings and convey them to the finish line. Team members are encouraged to join their final teammate and cross the finish line together. DO NOT block the finish line from other runners trying to cross.

Relay points #2 through #4 will have a bus for runners to use as shelter.

PACE BUNNIES

Looking for a goal time? We are striving to have Pace Bunnies available for the Marathon and ½ Marathon.

MEDICAL SERVICES

Physiotherapists and massage therapists are available in the Rotary Hall at the finish line. The finish line will have emergency trained physicians and nurses. Ambulance crews will provide constant surveillance during the race.

WATER STATIONS / REFUELING STATION / PORT-A-POTTIES

Water stations will be located at every 4 km in the first half and every 2 km in the second half. Water and Gatorade in 5 oz. Cups will be offered at each station. Water will be offered first and Gatorade at the back of each station. E-load gels will be offered at km 16 & 32. Port-a-Potties are located near water stations and start lines.

KILOMETER MARKERS

There will be industrial pylons every kilometer throughout the route. Every KM will be visibly marked.

START AND FINISH AREA

The start line for the full marathon and the first leg of the team relay will be Wellington.

The start line for the half marathon will be in West Lake.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

STAY ON ROUTE

Runners must stay on the route at all times. We do have a closed route however we do ask that you stay to the right side of the road to leave the left for buses and emergency vehicles. During the final KM to the finish, pylons will direct you to the left. This is for safety and Boston Qualifying standards. Runners will be disqualified if they do not follow the race route.

RACE ROUTE ACCESS

For the safety of the runners, no unauthorized people, vehicles, scooter, bicycles or any other mechanical assistance are permitted on the race route. These are official police road closures. Please note our race route roads will begin to roll open at the 6-hour mark from the start of our Full Marathon (at approximately 2PM). Participants are welcome to continue finishing their race on our qualified route, however they will be required to move to the shoulder of the road.

STROLLERS

Baby joggers and strollers are not permitted.

ANIMALS

Dogs, with the exception of service animals, are not permitted on the race route.

HEADPHONES

While the use of headphones is permitted on the route, we recommend that the volume is kept at a level to hear oncoming buses and emergency vehicles.

ASSISTANCE

Unofficial pacers or other unregistered participants are not permitted. (This does not apply to officially designated pace bunnies.) A participant who receives assistance during an event from anyone other than official medical personnel may be disqualified.

BANDITS

No individual who is not officially registered may join the event or accompany any participant on any part of the race route. Any person without an official race will be directed to leave the route immediately.

BIB NUMBER

Your official bib number must be fully visible at all times and worn on the front of your torso. The timing device is attached to the back of your race number; in order to endure an accurate time, please do not fold or wrinkle the race number or cover it with a jacket, runner belt, water bottle, or any other item.

FOLLOW THE RULES

Participants agree to follow the instructions of The County Marathon, medical and police officials. Failure to follow the rules can result in disqualification.
