The County Marathon values all participants, and notes that elite runners can raise the profile of the event including greater interest by other participants, spectators and the media. The County Marathon also recognises that elite runners may invest heavily in their training in order to perform at their peak level. Such investment incurs a cost and as such elite runners may seek remuneration for their participation. The County Marathon now only offers prize money for runners setting a new course record, in addition to providing complementary registration for first 10 runners who meet the following eligibility criteria:

i) Provide proof of results based on the following qualification times on a certified course within the past 2 years:

ii) Written request obtained at least 1 month prior to the race event.

The County Marathon does not pay appearance fees nor provide financial assistance with respect to travel, accommodations, meals, race day transportation, or other logistics.

In return for the complementary registration, elite athletes agree to:

i) Be available for post-race media.

ii) Be present if there is an awards ceremony.

1 In the event that more than 1 runner beats the previous course record in any given year, only the fastest runner will be awarded the monetary prize. Monetary awards will be paid to the participant in the form of a cheque drawn on a Canadian financial institution at the conclusion of the Awards Ceremony.
